Coaches
Our Coaching Staff
Great coaching makes great players. At NH Selects, coaching is not a volunteer role — it's a professional commitment to developing the complete player, on and off the ice.
Every coach on our staff shares a single objective — develop the complete player. That means skill development and character development are treated with equal importance. We don't shortcut fundamentals to win a weekend tournament. We build players who are prepared for the next level, whatever that looks like for them.
Our coaches are trained in the Power Edge Pro (PEP) system and apply Reactive Countering Training (R.C.T.) methodology across every age group. They create environments where players are challenged, held accountable, and supported — where effort is expected and growth is the measure of success.
We believe the best coaches don't just teach the game. They teach the habits, mindset, and character that make players successful at every level — and beyond the rink.
This is a deliberate choice. When a head coach's child is on the team, the dynamics change — for the coach, for the player, for the team, and for every family in the room. We eliminate that entirely at the head coaching level.
NH Selects head coaches are focused on one thing: your player's development. There are no roster politics, no playing-time conflicts, and no divided loyalties. Every decision is made with the team's best interest in mind — period.
We do welcome qualified parents as assistant coaches who share our development-first philosophy and meet our standards. But the person running the bench and making roster decisions will never have their own child on that team.
This is rare in youth hockey. It's one of the things that makes NH Selects different.
Coaching at NH Selects is earned, not given. Here's what every coach on our staff is expected to bring — every practice, every game, every interaction.
Every NH Selects coach meets or exceeds these requirements before stepping behind the bench.
John Sikich, originally from Hermosa Beach, CA, moved to New Hampshire in 2017 with his wife and four boys. John played tier hockey on multiple travel teams in Chicago and Los Angeles until he was 18, when he became a Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
In 2005, John began his professional coaching career with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings Organization in El Segundo, CA, where he served as Head and Assistant Coach for teams at the Tier I, II, and III levels. His 15+ years with one of the most respected youth hockey organizations in the country gave him deep experience in player development at every competitive level.
John considers himself fortunate to have trained alongside coaches currently in the NHL, international power skating instructors, and fellow coaches whose expertise shaped his own approach. That experience drives everything he brings to NH Selects — from leading the 10U program as Head Coach, to running Learn to Skate, Learn to Play, and 8U Development sessions, to personal on-ice training and power skating instruction.
Grant Sikich — known as Coach Siki — is an experienced coach with a passion for developing young talent. Born and raised in California, Grant grew up playing elite-level hockey and has built his coaching career around helping players reach their full potential.
Grant rose through the ranks as a player with the LA Jr. Kings before moving to New England prep school hockey at Tilton School and Brewster Academy. Known for his speed, agility, and physical play, he continued his career with the Jr. Monarchs in junior hockey.
After his playing career, Grant turned his focus to coaching — bringing the same intensity and work ethic to the bench that defined him as a player. He serves as Director of Player Development for NH Selects, where he leads the 12U program as Head Coach, assists with the 16U, and coaches across the Learn to Skate, Learn to Play, and 8U Development programs.
Owen Sikich grew up in Hermosa Beach, CA, and started his hockey career with the LA Jr. Kings at age 4. He quickly developed into an elite player, making the jump to junior hockey at 16 years old after completing his 16U AAA year with the Jr. Kings.
Owen's junior career took him across North America — from the Fresno Monsters in the Western States Hockey League (WSHL) to the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), and then to the Granite City Lumberjacks in the NA3HL, where he was part of their championship team.
He went on to play collegiate hockey at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in the MIAC conference. Throughout his career, Owen has been recognized for his dedication to the sport and his consistent offensive contributions across every competitive level. He now brings that experience and compete drive to NH Selects as Head Coach of the 16U program, Assistant Coach for 12U, and a coach in our Learn to Skate, Learn to Play, and 8U Development programs.
